On November 10 2009, the world news media came under scrutiny during the 4th Annual Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP). The Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) studies the representation of women and men in the news. I’lam Media Center participated by monitoring the Arabic media in Israel.
This unique project brought together advocates, activists and researchers in an extraordinary global network, dedicated to documenting and changing patterns of portrayal in the news. The GMMP research results are applied as a tool for change towards gender equality in and through media, through illustrating global patterns in news content, highlighting the persistent lack of women in national news media, and starting dialogue between media advocates and media practitioners.
