On August 13 2011, I'lam will host a symposium entitled 'Women in the Media: Present Absentees', as part of the symposium series for the 2011 year. The symposium will cover the findings of I'lam's latest research on the coverage of women in the Arabic press, 'Still Subjugated: The Representation of Women in Arab National Newspapers'.
Programme Schedule:
- Presentation of the Research's Main Findings - Samah Bsoul and Dr Amal Jamal - Discussion on the interplay between women and women's issues, social roles, and the duty of the media. Participating in the discussion will be:
* Dr Huneida Ghanem - General Director of Madar Center, Ramallah. Also Researcher in the Social Sciences. * Dr Nabila Espanioly - Director of 'Al-Tufula' Center. Nabila is a prominent feminist activist. * Bernard Tannous - Journalist and Director of 'Naas' Radio.
TV personality and journalist, Ruba Warwar will steer the discussion.
The symposium will take place on Saturday, August 13 at the Plaza Hotel in Nazerat Illit. It will run from 10am to 1230pm. |
