I`lam Media Center, together with The Galilee Society and Mada Al-Carmel, ran a 'Gender Economics' workshop series for Arab Palestinian women under the EU-supported project of `Gender and Palestinian Minority Mainstreaming of the Israeli National Budget`. The 4 sessions that make up the workshop began on January 28 2011, and concluded on February 18 2011.
The training sessions assisted Palestinian women participants from civil society NGOs, local authorities, and women journalists to acquire essential terminology in Gender Economy, as well as tools to read and analyze the national budget from a gender- and minority-sensitive perspective. Women completing the training will better understand socio-economic indicators, be able to scrutinize national and local budgets, comprehend and apply a myriad of advocacy tools and be able to articulate in economic language the status of Palestinian women in Israel. The training was guided by economics, gender and advocacy civil society experts.
