I don’t want to sound cliché, but this experience enriched me in many ways. Living abroad for six months makes you discover things about yourself besides discovering other cultures (not only one culture). I’m really glad that I had this chance to be in Germany, to live in the beautiful Bayreuth, the amazing Mainz and the cool Berlin. Visiting Germany’s other cities was also something I enjoyed doing. Working in lead TV channels like ZDF and Al-Jazeera taught me a lot about media, and provided me with great insight into the field. It’s like entering the kitchens of the greatest chefs who reveal to you the secrets of great dishes you enjoyed eating not too long ago. All of this was great. However, the thing that astounded me the most was meeting so many interesting people in a very short time and almost everywhere! The amount of things I learned each day from the people I met, the work and the daily life were so enormous that I couldn’t possibly have digested them all! And I’ve still not talked about the art, which in all of its forms was waiting, wherever you looked. Yes, I also had bad days here and there; which is part of real life, to not dream but to keep your eyes open. I wish everybody would have this chance of living in a different world than his for a while. Maybe then humanity will recognize that we are all from the same big family. |
