Jerusalem Tour for Journalists

 2009-06-27

As a celebration of Arab Culture, Ilam organized a two-day media tour in Jerusalem Saturday June 27 and Sunday June 28 2009 for journalists and high school media students. The first day consisted of a tour of the Old City in Jerusalem, and the second day Ilam met with 4 NGOs based in the Old City.

The tour in Jerusalem focuses on the Old City of Jerusalem.  The tour began with a visit to the Mamilla Cemetery, not far from Jaffa Gate-the oldest Muslim cemetery, said to be at least 1,000 years old.  This is the locality of the graves of Muslim scholars and many companions of the Prophet Mohammed. Paradoxically, Israel is contemplating building a Museum of Tolerance on this sacred land.
