On December 29 2010, the Israeli Knesset passed the Israeli National Budget for 2011-2012, at 247 billion shekels for 2011 and 259 billion shekels for 2012.
Although Finance Minister, Yuval Steinitz praised the budget as one of "growth and education" that will bring the Arab and Haredi sectors into the national economy, I'lam, The Galilee Society and Mada Al-Carmel, within the framework of the EU-sponsored 'Gender and Palestinian Minority Mainstreaming of the Israeli National Budget' project, stress that the budget fails the Arab community, and particularly Arab women, in the fields of health, education and employment.
